Our Beliefs

As an Evangelical church bearing the name of Martin Luther, we accept, without reservation, the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God, the only rule and norm for faith and practice. Accordingly, we subscribe wholeheartedly to the teachings of Christ as confessed in the three ecumenical creeds of the Christian church (i.e. the Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian creeds) and the Lutheran confession of Holy Scripture contained in the Book of Concord of 1580. We encourage Luther's Small Catechism as a simple instruction of Christ's doctrine for the Christian family.

We believe and teach that God graciously bestows eternal life to the fallen sinner by the atoning work of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who shed his holy blood on the cross as sacrifice and payment for the sins of the world. [John 3:16, Colossians 1:19-23, 2 Corinthians 5:19, 21] Through no merit or effort of our own, we personally receive the benefits of Christ's sacrifice for the forgiveness of all sins through the God given gift of faith. [Ephesians 2:8-9] The Holy Spirit bestows faith by means of God's Word (Holy Scripture) and sacraments (Holy Baptism, The Lord's Supper and Holy Absolution). [Romans 10:17, 2 Peter 1:21, Acts 2:38, Matthew 26:26-28, John 6:53-56, John 20:22,23] Throughout the baptized Christian's life, the gifts of Christ's body and blood are received for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of faith as they are distributed in the Word and sacraments of the Divine Service. [Matthew 18:20, Hebrews 10:19-25] Where sins are forgiven, there is deliverance from death and the devil, life and eternal salvation. [Colossians 1:13-14, Titus 3:5-7]

As a result of this gracious redemption we consider our present vocations as God pleasing places for service in His kingdom. We are free to serve others as Jesus bid us in His great commandment to love the Lord with our whole heart, soul and mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Likewise we are Christ's workmanship, created in Him for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. [Matthew 22:37-39, Ephesians 2:10] As we live and serve in Christ's Name we eagerly await His coming again for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. [John 5:28-29, Hebrews 9:27-28, 1 Corinthians 15:42-52]
